Our client, a leader in the education industry, is looking for a Project Manager for an initial 12 month contract assignment to lead projects around their Innovation and Digital Experience initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Analysis, the Project Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective management and implementation of projects and related activities for projects including but not limited to those under the purview of the Innovation Council.

This includes: outreach to businesses and partners, liaison with faculty, staff, students and partners for project development, proposal development, preparation of funding and resource requests, project planning and execution, oversight of project progress, resource planning and scheduling, quality assurance, and client and supplier relationship management.
The incumbent will play a key role in fostering innovation and moving innovative ideas, including those form the President’s Big Ideas Challenge, from idea to implementation and in the planning and executing of the college’s next Big Idea Challenge.
The incumbent also will play a key role in ensuring that project leads meet all project milestones, deliverables and budgetary requirements. The incumbent assists Innovation and Digital Experience Administration with developing the innovation and experience culture at the college by contributing to activities such as organizing challenges, publications, seminars, workshops, newsletters, etc.

Responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
Project Development and Management
•Manage and implement projects, and related activities, for assigned projects including but not limited to those under the purview of the Innovation Council
•Work with faculty, staff, idea champions and other partners to define scope of projects
•Prepare project proposals in partnership with project leads
•Participate in contract negotiations with Innovation and Digital Experience staff and partners
•Identify and prepare submissions for project funding
•Develop a project plan for each of the President’s Big Ideas Challenge projects approved by Innovation Council, including budget
•Identify and manage risks associated with projects, including developing strategies to reduce and mitigate risks
•Advise and assist faculty and staff in planning and tracking project activities
•Manage assigned projects, including identifying and forming the project team (both internal and external members), monitoring activities, and scheduling the project resources
•Provide financial management of individual projects
•Ensure projects are completed in time, within budget, and with acceptable quality
•Respond to inquiries and requests related to assigned projects
•Liaise with faculty, staff, students, and partners to ensure effective and efficient execution of projects
•Collect information required for reporting to Innovation Council
Information Management
•Research background information on projects and funding opportunities
•Maintain project database
•Work with the college’s innovation software and consultants, Planbox
•Gather, review, evaluate and prepare summaries of information submitted from various projects
•Track status of assigned projects
•Ensure project tasks and milestones are current and complete
•Provide support to Manager, Business Analysis for reporting of metrics
Outreach and Knowledge Dissemination
•Model and promote innovation and agile project methodologies to all project stakeholders
•Represent Innovation and Digital Experience and the Bug Ideas Challenge at events and with stakeholders, at the request of the Manager, Business Analysis
•Mentor and advise faculty and staff on project management processes and procedures, as needed
•Prepare communications materials on projects, such as project status reports, success stories, case studies, etc.

Qualifications
SKILLS NEEDED
- -A 3-year diploma/degree, or equivalent, in business or project management
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Project Manager
- PMP certification is preferred
- Experience within Education industry or Broader Public sector is an asset
- Vendor management experience
