Prepare, review and sign reports as requiredResponsibilities•Conduct and supervise all laboratory out of specification investigations. Prepare, review and sign reports as required, determine root cause and corrective and preventative actions. •Perform and document non-conformances and corrective actions, including follow up monitoring to gauge the effectiveness of the corrective action. •Oversee method validation projects within the Quality Control team, including method development, validation, method transfers, optimization and addendums. Perform data review of method validation projects and sign off on final reports as required. •Review third-party validations for approval of external testing methods. •Oversee and execute timely implementation of laboratory software systems, including instrument and data management software. Ensure software systems meet regulatory requirements and laboratory needs as applicable.•Implement and manage QC Laboratory proficiency program including continuous improvement of proficiency program. •Update, revise, and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures, and other quality documents, as required. Assess, develop, and review all operational processes and testing methods for continuous improvement.•Complete weekly/monthly/yearly quality checks on laboratory processes, control charts and other quality systems.•Manage QC lab equipment, equipment purchases and installation, equipment qualification protocols and reports, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and administration duties. •Responsible for maintaining calibration/OQ schedule of laboratory equipment. •Annual review of compendial reference methods to ensure internal procedures and specifications remain compliant. •Contributes to audit readiness and participates in quality audits with Health Canada, other regulatory agencies, and internal auditors as needed. •Performs all other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications•Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, microbiology or related science required, plus five years' experience in a leadership or management role. Master’s or Ph.D. would be preferred.•5-10+ years of experience in a QA/QC laboratory setting•Experience with analytical and microbiological testing would be preferred. •Demonstrates technical proficiency and self-assuredness in applying GMP, cGMP, EU-GMP, Health Canada, and other applicable standards.•Hands on experience with complex instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, FTIR, qPCR. •Experience with writing test methods and standard operating procedures.•Experience with performing internal audits.•Experience with Statistical Process Controls, KPIs, root cause analysis, investigative tools, corrective action/preventative actions (CAPA)•Knowledge of standardized and compendial test methods ASTM, ISO, USP, EUP, AOAC, etc.•Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines, including GMP, GLP, GDP, ICH, FDA, USP, and EUP•Ability to understand lab related technical and regulatory/compliance. •Demonstrated leadership and management skills. •Strong decision making and problem-solving skills required. •Strong verbal and written communication skills. •Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
