Responsibilities
•Develop processes required to support new products with strong focus on automotive cooling and A/C Systems
• Support program launches and Manufacturing Engineering in transition of prototype process to production processes
•Set up and lead cross functional feasibility meetings, especially with Manufacturing Engineering and Tool Developers
•Interface with manufacturing locations and current/prospective US Automotive Customers and Suppliers
•Research the feasibility, design, operation & performance of mechanisms, components, and systems
•Design and development tooling for use in manufacturing and prototype environments
•Apply knowledge of designing and GD & T, CAD, NX and SolidWorks in order to create concept sketches and initial drawings of new products; as well as update and modify math data/models
•Identify opportunities for growth and product/process development through research, testing, trials and studies
•Coordination of engineering print review to ensure the latest releases are available
•Creation of engineering drawings and change documentation (EN's) for review for newly released prints to production as needed and applicable
•Conduct product development research and testing using knowledge of thermodynamics & fluid mechanics with a strong focus on automotive cooling and A/C Systems
•Complete development of, up to and including the prototype stage, of various assigned components, including RFQ, assigning Tooling Development numbers, and first-off and capability studies
•Assist with other project related activities as assigned
Qualifications
•In-depth knowledge of Helium leak testing and aluminum brazing (induction and/or flame)
•Experience with manufacturing process development
•Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering
•Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
•Manufacturing experience, preferably within the automotive industry is an asset
•Ability to assess manufacturability of current and new components knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
•Ability to analyze blueprint specifications using GD & T
•Comprehensive knowledge of CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks and NX an asset
•Excellent analytical skills with a strong sense of urgency
•Effective verbal and written communication skills
•Capable of working in a high-pressure environment
