Responsibilities
• Perform roofing condition surveys, gather data and prepare reports, cost estimates,
drawings and specifications.
• Perform roofing investigations required to diagnose specific problems and recommend
repair.
• Prepare plans, calculations, and designs in accordance with established codes and
standards.
• Analysis and design of roofing systems of a variety of materials.
• Preparation of standard roofing drawings and sketches utilizing hand drafting techniques,
and/or CAD drafting software in cooperation with CAD Operators.
• Perform on-site field reviews of roofing projects to assess constructed element
conformance, including the preparation of any associated field review reports.
• Prepare site instructions, change orders, progress draw approvals, and letters of
certification.
• Apply advanced engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having
scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult and responsible
assignments.
• Direct and indirect, delivery of services to clientele.
Qualifications
• 5 to 10 years of roofing consultant experience.
• May have attained certification or training in specialized equipment and investigative
tools.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial and residential roofing processes and technical
concepts.
• Possess a balance of technical and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings and sketches.
• Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements applicable
to the position.
• Preferred to have attained IIBEC roof consultant certifications and/or BSSO Building
Science Specialist (BSS) designation.
• Will have attained Professional Engineer designation, Certified Technician or
Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) certification.
