This is a Hybrid Role with 3 days in the office a week. This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.

Responsibilities
1. Perform day-to-day operations, maintenance, and support, including:
1.1 Database Error/Alert Monitoring & Troubleshooting
1.2 Database Logs Review and Troubleshooting
1.3 Database Backup/Recovery jobs/tasks review
1.4 Performance monitoring and tuning
1.5 Storage and capacity planning and management
1.6 Database objects management
1.7 Database Change Management
1.8 Security/Auditing
1.9 Identify security gaps and vulnerabilities, identify and implement mitigations (e.g. patches)
1.10 Installing, Configuring, Patching work related to projects
1.11 User and Profile management
2. Create a SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) document to assist operational staff (non-DBAs) in their duties regarding Oracle database environments.
3. Perform regular assessment of the existing Oracle databases/environments, and make recommendations regarding:
3.1 Maintenance and leading practices;
3.2 Changes required to address production issues (e.g. instability, poor performance) and risks;
3.3 Improvements to operational procedures (e.g. backup/restore) to align to standard methodology and industry best practices, taking into account the amount and criticality of the systems;
3.4 Recommendations for disaster recovery and non-production environments; and
3.5 Database upgrade options and approaches, informed by overall solution refresh plans and industry best practices;
4. Implement approved recommendations as described above;
5. Provide guidance and outline best practices for incorporating future database requirements into the environment.
6. Contribute to a team culture of collaboration, excellence and innovation;
7. Develop or inform the development of role descriptions for the development and sustainment of OPS/BPS Secure;
8. Develop plans for the knowledge and skills transfer to OPS employees, including activities or tests to
demonstrate the successful transfer of knowledge and attainment of required skills; and
9. Transfer knowledge to OPS employees.
Qualifications
Database Administrator: 1 role
1. Sustainment of Large Database Systems
10+ years of experience in deploying and administering Oracle databases within an operations environment.
5+ years of DBA experience supporting Oracle databases for large mission-critical enterprise solutions.
10+ years of experience designing, making recommendations for, and implementing high availability database environments.
Working knowledge of migration strategies for Oracle databases versions 8, 9, 10g, 11g, and 12c
Experience with Oracle in Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 environments running on Sun Platforms, and RedHat Linux environment.
2. Solutions Leadership
10+ years of experience in designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining large implementations based on the Oracle Database product
Experience with ITIL processes such as Service Level Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management, and Capacity Management
3. Problem Management and Incident Management
10+ years of experience with triaging, analyzing, diagnosing (troubleshooting), evaluating options, and resolving database problems.
4. Quality Assurance
10+ years of experience with quality control and assurance methodologies and practices as applied to the implementation of database with over 10,000 records.
Experience with Change Management and Release Management as processes supporting the implementation of large applications.
