System Security (70%)
•Acquires and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the university's technology and information systems, including internal and cloud / externally hosted systems.
•Responsible for participating in the development and maintenance of institutional security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

•Responsible for planning, implementing, and upgrading security measures and controls for university systems. Researches, recommends, and installs appropriate tools and countermeasures.

•Participates in the development of project plans for complex systems implementations.

•Participates in the evaluation of RFP responses to identify optimal technology solutions.
System Recoverability (5%)
•Participates in IT disaster recovery and business continuity development, planning and testing.
•Participates in the protection of the University's IT assets through the maintenance and management of reliable backup systems, procedures, and processes.
•Where applicable, performs and tests backup and restores to ensure that systems and data are recoverable in the event of data loss.
•Maintains an in-depth knowledge of data protection technologies through formal training, seminars and self-directed study.
Planning (5%)
•Conducts research and evaluation of systems hardware and software to determine value and support development efforts.
•Participates in identifying requirements and proactive solutions to technology challenges.
•Participates in the development of project plans, budget estimates and RFP requirements for complex, institution-wide systems implementation projects.
•Participates in the evaluation of RFP responses to help identify optimal technology solutions.
Support (5%)
•Supports end users in the use of centrally managed IT systems.
•Assists advanced support for MIS and Desktop Support teams with systems infrastructure issues.
Supervisory (5%)
•May acts for Team Lead when required.

Qualifications
A university degree in Information Systems, Computer Science (preferred) is required.
Minimum of 5 plus years of hands on experience
Strong verbal and written communications as well as time management and organization skills.
Able to build strong relationships with team members, clients, and external parties.
