What will you do?
As a Senior Data Engineer with our Victoria client, you will:
•Collaborate with team members, other IT teams, and customers to understand the organization’s business objectives, data needs and infrastructure needs.
•Provide technical leadership and create culture of customer-centricity, accountability and high performance.
•Design, develop and implement data pipelines and ETL tools and workflows.
•Work with Data Architects and Data Scientists on the design, development and implementation of operational, transactional and analytical modeling.
•Identify risks/issues and propose solutions to remove barriers.
•Apply DevOps practices: CI/CD, test-driven development and automated testing.
•Mentor junior engineers, follow best practices, perform code reviews and architect resilient infrastructure.
•Solve challenging problems relating to scale, statistics, infrastructure reliability, latency, etc.
•Lead data mining and collections procedures.
•Source, structure, profile, validate and transform data for reporting, analysis and data science purposes.
•Engage with stakeholders to define, design and deliver data sourcing, analysis and reporting solutions.
•Make recommendations regarding methods used to collect, analyse and manage structured and unstructured data to drive outcomes.
•Develop solutions (and code) to automate and productionize data sourcing, data structuring and analytical modelling.
•Analyze data sources, evaluate/remediate data quality, design/implement data sets to be consumed and re-used by the analytics community.
•Identify opportunities to utilize data and analytics to business advantage and prototyping for ‘proof of value’.
•Assist in troubleshooting and guiding resolution of data analytics related problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

How do you qualify?
To qualify for the Senior Data Engineer role with our Victoria client, you must have:
•5+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer.
•5+ years’ experience with data performance.
•3-5 years’ coding experience with SQL and Python.
•3-5 years’ experience with reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
•Experience with data warehouse and data lake design, development and sustainment.
•Experience with version control systems (Git).
•Experience with cloud platforms.
•Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps (CI/CD technologies and practices).
•Bachelors in Computer Science & a Masters in data science, data engineering, or machine learning.
•Excellent listening, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
•Knowledge of investment management industry an asset.
