We’re looking for an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer with a background in having experience in the design and commissioning of marine electrical control systems, for global customers in the marine defence marketplace or in the naval marine industry or in a similar industry (rotating equipment an asset).


What will you be doing in this role?

• Ability to conduct a detailed review of customer RFQ packages and devise a robust technical solution with an itemized BOM and estimated hours to complete the work. Obtains estimates from approved vendors in support of bid submission. Takes a leadership role in presenting the proposed solution to the customer in a Technical Bid review.
• Takes leadership in devising the detailed design solution including, but not limited to P&ID’s, SLD, Control Narratives, PLC’s, VFD’s and related power electronics, detailed BOMs & specifications for Electrical equipment build.
• Works in a project environment in close association with mechanical design engineers to produce integrated custom-built equipment.
• Supports procurement in the review of detailed vendor proposals for compliance to design criteria.
• Leads technical documentation effort required in a typical Naval project, including marine classification society submissions, engineering documentation (e.g., electrical schematics, BOM), manuals, test procedures, safety and marine classification society verification documentation, maintenance documentation, training documentation, Configuration Management, ILS.
• Leads progressive equipment start-up of equipment, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), commissioning on-board, Harbour Acceptance Tests (HAT) and Sea Acceptance Trials (SAT).
• Supports all customer needs with a matter of urgency for speedy resolution.
• Conducts all activities in compliance with the ISO Systems & Procedures.
• Maintains all systems in compliance with company Intellectual Property rules and guidelines. Ensures all drawings, specifications, standards and know-how are to be fully backed up and protected.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of (7) years’ experience in Control Technology applications.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in specification, design and commissioning of AC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
• In-depth knowledge and experience in specification, design and commissioning of PLC-based control systems
• Experience with design and tuning of PLC-based PID control with a sub-second time constant closed-loop control
• Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
• Good understanding of power electrical circuit protection, including circuit breaker sizing and configuration, cable sizing for fault currents
• P.Eng., or eligible
• High fluency in English, both written and spoken, with experience in writing specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
• Valid passport, and ability to obtain a government security clearance
