Senior Network Engineer -Firewall

Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Network Segmentation. Note: Preferred candidates with experience in managing network security
solutions from Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, FireMon
• Extensive knowledge and Good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, OSI model), operating system fundamentals (Windows,
UNIX), security technologies - Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Email Gateway Solutions, VPN Infrastructure, Security Incident
and Event Management Systems (SIEM), DNS Security, Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Threat hunting and Intelligence
• Should have at least 1 or more vendor product certifications - Fortinet Network Security Expert (levels 4 - 8)
• Relevant certifications (CISSP, OCSP, CCIE-Security) and vendor security certifications (from Cisco, Palo Alto, FireMon) are
preferred
• Should demonstrate strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) technical information and collaborate with IT and business
stakeholders where required.
• Post-secondary technical degree (e.g. Computer Engineering or Computer Science) or diploma with a suitable combination of
education and experience maybe considered
• Demonstrated experience in management and improvement of IT security technologies and process, security architecture, and
cyber incident response
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence change with people at all levels of the organization
• Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Strong strategic business focus and commitment to partnering with business units to enable them to meet their objectives.
• Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Ontario Cybersecurity Framework
• Utility Experience is an asset
• Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the next generation firewalls for IT and OT environments
• Participate in technical discussions with relevant IT and business teams to understand requirements and have the ability to review,
understand current system architecture, design and provide recommendations to fulfil business requirements by complying with
security requirements
• Assist in identifying problems and opportunities for improvement of cyber security systems or processes, including security
architecture advancement, network security controls, threat and risk mitigation and service level improvements
• Assist in reviewing and Implementing firewall requests from cross functional team.
• Assist in managing day to day operations related to firewall governance and orchestration solutions and contribute to it’s maturity
improvement
• Audit, maintain documentation of current Firewall policies and clean up stale rules periodically
• Participate in day to day troubleshooting and provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for the major incidents.
• Implement changes on Firewalls following established change management process
• Provide support for Incident Response (IR) investigation when analysis confirms an actionable incident
• Identify actionable indicators of compromise through analysis of network forensic data
• Research and analyze events to determine classification, correlation, and root cause of operational issues
• Keep up to date with emerging threat tactics, techniques and procedures used by malicious cyber actors, recommend actionable
remediation steps and implement relevant security controls to address risks by working with IT stakeholders
• Applies and ensures compliance with all appropriate security standards and adherence to regulatory access management controls

Qualifications
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing security solution architecture, implementation and administration of the
enterprise Network Security solutions such as Next-Gen Firewalls (NGFW), Firewall Orchestration, Intrusion Detection and

Summary
Reporting to the Manager, IT Security Architecture and Ops, the Contractor, IT Technical Consultant will assist in design, configuration,
maintenance of Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) related infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with IT Security
Architecture and Ops teams; as a business enabler and service provider, the Contractor IT Technical Consultant will assist in the
identification of effective solutions to meet the goals of the department and recommend business and technical process redesigns which
maximize efficiencies and align with operational goals for the organization.
