Responsibilities
Responsibilities;
Process semi-monthly payroll for all Canadian legal entities, including activities like new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, and shareholder loans, using Ceridian Dayforce software.
Manage payroll data, including garnishments, vacation accruals, health benefits, RRSP contributions, and other deductions.
Conduct audits on Ceridian remittances for source deductions, such as CPP, EI, personal tax, employer health tax, and WCB.
Prepare and submit monthly or quarterly remittances to third parties, including BC employer health tax, WSIB for Ontario, and workers' compensation for other provinces.
Generate monthly payroll journal entries for accounting purposes.
Handle RRSP reporting on a monthly basis, including payment requests to accounting.
Administer group insurance benefits, including enrollments, terminations, and system updates related to salary changes and billing reconciliations.
Download and print monthly invoices from benefit providers and coordinate payment requests with accounting.
Maintain and update records related to taxable benefits.
Process vehicle taxable benefits and maintain separate employee records in compliance with privacy regulations.
Manage year-end procedures, including reconciliations for T4 issuance and summaries.
Complete annual reconciliations for Workers' Compensation, Employer Health Tax, and Health and Education Tax.
Generate scheduled and ad-hoc reports for various levels of management as needed.
Ensure the accuracy and verification of all payroll system changes in line with company policies and Corporate Governance.
Collaborate with Human Resources and government agencies to resolve payroll-related issues.
Maintain employee hourly rates within the financial system and perform various audits as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience and Education:
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or Finance, or in a relevant discipline.
Minimum 10+ years of relevant working experience, preferably in a medium-sized organization with locations in multiple provinces.
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
