Responsibilities
-Review all electrical engineering enquires and prepare timely responses to stakeholders.
-Monitor and maintain production schedules for design work and accuracy of work output. Work together with other departments with respect to scheduling and hitting target dates. Maintain a proactive approach with regards to obstacles that could impact the cost, quality and timeliness of project delivery, both in the engineering office and on the shop floor
-Management of project’s technical scope, preparing designs and drawings
-Review and technically check project designs and operating philosophies for accuracy and validity (includes PLC code, design and protection relay settings)
-Work with other team members and managers to create and vet new and revised design and/or operating procedures.
-Identification of cost-reduced and/or functionality increased components and solutions
-Liaison with the project and service teams to provide support and guidance as necessary. Interface with shop floor to ensure production issues from engineering matters are minimized or eliminated
-Ensuring technical resources are notified of changing regulations and compliance issues.
-Monitor staff performance
-Ensure project documentation is completed as necessary
-Design and oversee the development of electronic drawing standards and tools for use by staff in engineering designs and drawing preparation
-Maintained engineering documentation and process adhering to Quality Assurance certification for clients systems
Specific Skills:
-Must possess superior engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines. Able to apply electrical engineering techniques to concept design, detailed estimates, component verification, troubleshooting, and failure analysis
-Strong attention to detail.
-Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
-Seasoned coach, mentor and leader
-Is visible, accessible and communicates effectively to all levels of employees
-Good presentation and influencing skills
-Teamwork in diverse and challenging environments
-Technical acumen and well-developed problem solving abilities
Qualifications
-Post-Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering.
-Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
-P. Eng with APEG BC or APEGA
-10 to 15 years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial design with at least 5 years as a project engineer or group leader. Emphasis on Power is desirable
