This role involves a 75/25 split, reporting to both the Supervisor of Corporate Accounting and the Manager of Tax. The Senior Technician is primarily responsible for managing the expense processing function within Corporate Accounting. Key responsibilities include processing and paying vendor invoices, handling employee expense reimbursements, reconciling cash, payables, and payroll-related accounts, preparing and entering journal vouchers, creating data and schedules for financial reports, contributing to policy development, and developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate accounting procedures.
In the Tax function, the Senior Technician supports tax filing processes, which include generating and preparing reports, confirming tax payments, and liaising with tax authorities to resolve filing issues. Additionally, the Senior Technician provides administrative support to the tax team as needed.
The Senior Technician works with a customer service mindset in a complex environment, managing challenging and competing deadlines. They exhibit a high level of attention to detail and possess leadership skills necessary for overseeing and guiding the daily activities of the accounts payable process. With strong technical expertise, the Senior Technician serves as a subject matter expert in all aspects of the role.

Responsibilities
• Processes accounts payable transactions, issues cheques and electronic payments, verifies receipt of services, codes transactions, and enters data into the accounting system.
• Reconciles accounts, ledgers, and daily balances promptly.
- Prepares month-end adjusting entries.
• Continuously develops, implements, and maintains corporate accounting directives and procedures; contributes to directive development, and documents processes and procedures.
• Generates reports and retrieves invoices to support PST filings.
• Prepares and confirms tax payments as needed.
• Runs quarterly reports to support installment calculations.
• Identifies quarterly non-resident withholdings.
• Communicates with tax authorities to resolve outstanding issues.
• Requests documents for specific tax filings from various departments, assists with mail processing, completes signature requests, manages file organization, and schedules meetings.
• Provides backup support to other Senior Technicians in Corporate Accounting as needed.
• Performs other tasks as required by the Corporate Accounting and Tax branches.
Qualifications
• Minimum five years of experience in an accounts payable role
• Strong accounting skills and proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• A team player with excellent interpersonal abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Proactive and results-oriented with good time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain accuracy and high productivity in a time-sensitive and demanding environment
• Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a service-oriented mindset
• Initiative and drive to thrive in an environment focused on continuous improvement
• Critical thinking skills to tackle challenges in an innovative way
Preferred:
• Knowledge of financial reporting and relevant accounting standards
• Experience with complex decentralized organizations, ideally financial institutions
• Experience using MS Dynamics NAV accounting software
• Experience with corporate income tax and indirect tax filings
