job description

Are you an experienced Senior UX Designer who is looking to join a cross-functional team in the city of Toronto? If you love to collaborate with product managers, developers and product owners then this is the right role for you! See how this opportunity with Code for Canada will allow you to work alongside an in-house data science team for the City of Toronto!

What will your day look like?

As a Senior UX Designer...

Develop a product that is part of the City’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan. You’ll make it easier to discover and act on traffic and collision data, making Toronto’s streets safer for all road users.
You will be part of a cross-functional team of three taking a product from alpha to beta based on an existing roadmap and documentation. You can learn more about the alpha in this video.
The existing product has enabled the team to quickly validate assumptions, and now needs to be made robust and complete enough to replace legacy systems.
There are two main lines of work: test and iterate on what’s there already; define, design, and prototype what’s not. As the team does this, users should see regular progress and understand what to expect next.

-Conceive and design product features and flow
-Collaborate with product manager, developer, and product owner
-Plan and conduct usability testing
-Conduct generative research to guide evolution of product beyond beta release
-Execute all design stages, from concept to final handoff to engineering

What do you bring to this role?

Experience on many projects with varying team compositions is valuable, probably spanning ~10 years
You’re a highly collaborative, skilled communicator
You’re adaptable and resilient
You’re motivated to use you skills to make life better for Toronto residents
Experience working with transportation and/or spatial data is an asset.
Experience working in government is not necessary
