We are currently recruiting for multiple full-time Sewing Machine Operators for a growing manufacturing warehouse located in Leduc, AB.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for the assembly of custom thermal blankets and hoarding unit panels. After receiving the fabric from cutting, the sewing machine operator is responsible for sewing the fabric together, following standard sewing practices and instructions from colleagues and supervisors.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads by example in daily activities by ensuring production and quality standards are maintained at the highest level
• Works within an environment of continuous improvement
• Knowledge on operating the following single needle lock stitch sewing machines: Sunstar (KM-34BL) Titan (TN-60BL) PFAFF (1245) DURKKOPP ADLER A6 (SIMARD). As well as knowledge to use the company’s closing Machine (TN-441)
• Occasionally cutting materials and punching grommets
• Ensures that all the required tools are available for use (e.g. scissors, knives, measuring devices etc.)
• Ensures a safe work environment by periodically cleaning sewing machine and shop area. Minor maintenance to sewing machines at times
• Reporting to the production manager any machine issues that are beyond your skill set
• Performing general quality control inspections on product
• Taking out garbage when requested by supervisor
• Occasionally leading the morning exercise

• Weekly pay through Randstad
• Competitive wage of $18/hour to start, with a wage evaluation after approximately 15 weeks
• Day shift - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential for overtime
• Working Monday to Friday, and being open to working the occasional weekend

• Previous sewing experience is required
• Experience using industrial sewing machine an asset
• Able to work in a target-oriented environment, and adjust priorities as work demands change

• Exposure to industrial shop environment
• Sitting up to seven hours. The entire team performs morning stretches and encourage you to move around and stretch when needed
• Lifting up to 30 lbs
