Responsibilities

• Developing, managing, and supporting ETL processes using Python with a keen eye on the performance and reliability of that information.
• Analyze, design, develop, implement, and maintain technical solutions in AWS using data ETL technologies, including Amazon S3, AWS and Snowflake.
• Maintain the current data warehouse solution and be an active participant in decommissioning legacy solutions.
• Develop cross-validation rules to ensure data accuracy.
• Elicit, analyze interpret business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions, includes data models, ETL and business rules, data life cycle management, governance, lineage, metadata and reporting elements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders (business analysts, data scientists, marketing, engineering developers, architects) to develop and improve the current data architecture, data quality, monitoring, and processing schemes.
• Contributes to the team's development of internal work practices
• Provide production support for existing data pipelines.
• Document steps needed to migrate database objects between various environments, including Development, UAT, Staging, and Production.
• Provide regular project updates to shared team resources and management as needed.
• Communicate issues, risks, and concerns proactively to manage and engage colleagues while working in a hybrid Agile/Scrum process.
• Document pipelines thoroughly to allow peers to assist with support as needed.
• Nights, weekends, and non-regular hours may be required to deploy and ensure solutions will be ready if needed.

Qualifications
• A post-secondary education in Computer Science or Information Management or relevant experience
• Technical Certificate would be an asset
• 4+ years of deep understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Sourcing, Data Integration and Consumption Capabilities and specialized knowledge of advanced Data Management
• 4+ years of experience in Python, SQL, ETL architecture, data architecture and BI architecture.
• Hands-on experience in Informatica, POWER BI, and Alteryx
• Hands-on knowledge of MS Modern Data Platform (Azure Data Factory, Pipelines, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Databricks, Azure Synapse), Microsoft BI Stack and data integration tools
• Experience delivering reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau or similar
• Prior work experience in commercial insurance or financial industry an asset

Summary
Our client is a leading mortgage insurer with growing business in the market. They are actively looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their expanding team. The individual will be participating the migration projects of Data Analytics Platform, supporting data model development and building ETL process using Amazon S3, AWS Glue Studio, AWS Glue Data Catalog, Lake Formation, Glue crawlers, AWS Athena, and Snowflake. This would be a great opportunities for someone who is interested in migration projects and bringing significant value to the team.
