Our client, is looking for an experienced Sr Data Scientist to join their team in Toronto on a permanent hire basis.

Role Purpose & Contribution
The Sr. Data Scientist position is responsible for leading the collection, collation and consolidation disparate sources and/or large amounts of structure and unstructured data into usable formats and using various data analytics and interrogation processes to assist in deriving insights and application.

The Sr. Data Scientist will be involved at the strategic level and will act as project leader, overseeing the efforts of a team of Data Scientists

The Data Scientist team, writes and tests necessary code. Data Scientists may utilise predictive modelling processes and tools to test data application and/or visually present data for use by others.

The Senior Data Scientist.Data Scientists provides day-to-day management, coaching and guidance to the team

Responsibilities & Duties
- the Senior Data Scientist, develops project and/or task specific data collection, consolidation, interrogation and translation plans for own work;
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and workshops to assist in identifying and exploring ways to use and apply data to support Hub Programs of work;
- Consistently apply Hub coding standards and practices;
- Help develop, and adhere to, Hub technical SOPs for model management and retention;
- Read, write and test code;
- Collaborate with Data Scientist team to optimize code;
- Applys machine learning techniques and tools to assist in interpretation and conversion of raw data into structured and accessible formats;
- Create models and visual / pictorial presentation of data per project brief;
- Assists in identifying and resolving bugs;
- Assists in the maintenance of existing models and tools;
- Participate in the execution of new experiments and tests to measure the effectiveness of designs, databases and tools;
- Assist in completion of model performance and data health checking processes;
- Proactively identify, explore and recommend ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement in Hub data sourcing, consolidation, interrogation and formatting practices.

- Assume additional skills, technologies, duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.
- Participate in regular performance and feedback processes;
- Proactively own and drive personal development, including ensuring an up to date and relevant development and career plan are in place;
- Identify and recommend relevant professional and industry development opportunities in line with Hub Learning & Development Policy;
- Plan and manage own workload so as to enable completion of development activities and reflection;
- Participate in mentoring and coaching with Senior Data Scientists.

Education, Skills & Experience
- Degree Qualifications in a Data Science, IT Engineering and/or Advanced Mathematics;

- At least 5 years’ professional commercial experience in the use of coding languages such as SAS, R or Python, as well as statistical analysis and machine learning processes;

- Working knowledge and experience with databases such as MySQL, MongoDB or Postgres;

- Demonstrated ability to use and develop data visualisation and reporting technologies;

- Demonstrated ability to conduct data experimentation and testing;

- Sound communications skills, both written and verbal;

- Ability to work as part of an Agile operating model;

- Genuine interest in / passion for Infrastructure.
