Responsibilities
•Lead the development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned new product development projects in support of overall local divisional business objectives.
•Formulate and implement processes to build a best-in-class strategic sourcing organization.
•Coordinate weekly in-person check-ins with local stakeholders regarding new product development and procurement cost savings initiatives.
•Leads sourcing analysis and selection process and performs cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required.
•Attend weekly and monthly in-person project meetings, supplier business reviews and new product development portfolio reviews.
•Leads development of contract strategy. Negotiates, establishes, monitors, and enforces supplier contracts and agreements.
•Develop strong partnership relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses.
•Identify supply base risk and develop/implement mitigation plans including market assessments, supplier's financial assessments, social responsibility, environment, ethics etc.
•Obtain and communicate market condition information and technology trends related to commodities and suppliers. Utilize market trends to identify and implement appropriate cost controls and business strategy changes.
•Perform cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required.
•Responsible for assuring cost standards are established for annual operating budgets.
•Collaborate across functions, divisions, and campuses to develop scorecards and business reviews for key suppliers. Organize and lead scorecard review meetings and business reviews.
•Create and implement enterprise-wide metrics, tools and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities.
•Communicate key supplier management updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization including local Leadership.
•Collaboration on new product development with local stakeholders from R&D, Quality, Advanced Operations, Regulatory and PMO.
•Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions and shared suppliers.
•Manage and develop continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as cost.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, finance, engineering, or related field.
•3+ years in Supply Chain Management with focus on strategic sourcing and supplier development.
•Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms, and contract administration.
•Knowledge of supplier processes and supply chain risk factors including experience in assessing and mitigating risk in the supply base.
•Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services.
•Ability to effectively communicate and present information to suppliers, team members, team leaders, and top management.
•Ability to build relationships and influence across multiple functions and levels both internally and externally.
•Ability to report to local Burnaby office twice weekly at the minimum to encourage and build strong organic relationships with key Stakeholders and Leadership team.
•Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction methodologies.
•Experience with supplier metrics & measurement methodologies and supporting systems.
•Strong skills in leadership, negotiations, influencing, communication & presentation, project management, troubleshooting & problem solving, analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building.
•Strong judgment with the ability to make and communicate timely and sound decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
•International sourcing and supplier management experience.
•Experience operating in a highly regulated industry. Medical Device industry sourcing and supplier management experience preferred.
•Working knowledge of ISO13485 standards and requirements.
•Demonstrated proficiency in ISO13485 standards.
•Supplier Audit experience in quality system standards: FDA QSR, ISO3485 and ISO9001 preferred.
•Proficient on basic computer programs including Microsoft Suite applications.
•Professional certifications through APICS, ISM, and/or CSCMP.
•Project Management knowledge and experience
