Technical Writer
Fort Saskatchewan, AB
Contract

Are you a Mechanical Engineer or Technologist that is looking to become a valuable member of a busy team? Would you like to work for an employer that provides you with the opportunity to work and play hard? If so, our client is looking for you.

Our client is looking to fill a Technical Writer position with one of their Alberta based facilities and they may be waiting on you to apply.

Technical Writer duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Determine, develop and obtain source data necessary to produce illustrated manuals
• Develop and write procedures as part of overall development of maintenance manuals
• Read and interpret Engineering blueprints and subcontractor data
• Generate accurate illustration requests to support technical manual development
• Review change requests, i.e. ECOs and CCRs, to determine level of impact to technical manuals
• Liaise with various groups and departments for inputs and results of evaluations
• Assist in updating stat logs
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives when required
• Assist in maintaining electronic files in accordance with departmental requirements using CMS (Content Management System)

Technical Writer Qualifications

• University Degree or College Diploma in mechanical engineering
• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation is a definite asset
• Three (3) plus years’ technical writing experience for large industrial projects in a petrochemical company
• Demonstrated high levels of written and oral communications skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience within Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Detailed knowledge and proven application in all aspects of Piping Materials
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, supervisory/management, organization and communication skills a must
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel
