The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of automotive tooling and be comfortable with progressive dies and have prior experience with NEW BUILDS.

Position: Tool and Die Maker - 430a
Location: Cambridge
Shift: Days Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30, we also have night open for anyone who is interested!
Rate: $36-38/hour

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the construction and maintenance of assigned new tool builds, engineering changes and production tooling.
- Supervise assigned toolmakers and apprentices- ensuring work quality, quantity.
- Coordinating CNC, wire cutting for assigned projects with group leader.
- Coordinating heat-treating for assigned projects.
- Layout, machine and construct die steels for the purpose of tool and die manufacture.
- Communicating with group leader and Toolroom Supervisor of any engineering issues with projects.
- Communicates with group leader regarding any issues with projects including machining faults that cannot be fixed by the toolmaker.
- Effectively use the equipment and tool resources within the die shop and related areas.
Qualifications
- Tool and Die Maker license - 430a: Journeyman's status or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience with automotive tooling and progressive dies.
- Self-initiative and direction are required as the toolmaker leads the skills development of apprentices as well as his / her own activities.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and the use of measuring instrumentation is key.
- The toolmaker must be a team player as tooling development / construction includes many technical resources from engineering, project leadership, purchasing, quality assurance and production personnel.
- The use of overhead cranes and associated material handling equipment is required
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be fully mobile, lifting and bending involved. Must be able to use overhead cranes and machines related to a machine shop.
