Our client offers engineering services to the electric utility industry. They are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join their growing team in the lower mainland.

Responsibilities

• Preparing a detailed design of transmission or distribution projects including conceptual design, structural configuration, loading analysis, structure design, conductor and overhead ground wire analysis and material selection;
• Use PLS-CADD regularly for transmission line modeling using LIDAR data;
• Model, design and optimize new or existing transmission structures PLS-POLE;
• Providing engineering and technical support and reviews to field crews during construction including site supervision;
• Providing mentorship and direction to junior designers;
• Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work;

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of transmission line design and engineering experience;
• Professional Engineering designation or eligibility for registration with EGBC;
• Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering Degree from a recognized university;
• Proficient with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER;
• Familiar with international and North American transmission line industry standards and guidelines such as IEC, IEEE, ASCE, Cigre, CSA and NESC;
• Experience developing design drawings for variety of transmission structure types;
• Knowledge of transmission line materials (structures, conductor, OHSW, insulators, hardware accessories and fittings);
• Knowledge of BC-Hydro Engineering standards and design practices;
