Our client, a multi-discipline engineering and environmental consultancy firm is looking for a Project Manager to join their Transportation group in their Mississauga or Newmarket office. As a member of the Transportation Group, you will generally work independently and will be the main point of contact with clients on a variety of Transportation projects and will also direct the internal workload and manage the financial aspects of projects. The Transportation Team focuses largely on road design across an extensive geographic area. Projects will vary in size and will range from small road improvements to large scale regional road improvements.

Specific responsibilities would include:
• Supporting the Transportation Group in meeting client needs on projects, including maintaining ongoing client contact
• Leading the design implementation and day to day project coordination within overall project team
• Providing technical direction on functional, preliminary and detailed engineering designs for roadway design projects
• Leading / assisting with the preparation of cost estimates, tender packages and project documents
• Leading / assisting in project budgeting and preparation of proposals
• Ensuring quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet the client’s needs
• Establishing appropriate timelines for deliverables and work with design teams, throughout the offices, to drive the schedule
• Actively manage the project budgets and teams in order to complete projects within approved budgets
• Effectively manage project scope changes and proactively seek client approval of additional engineering fees as required
• Leading the QA/QC process for project deliverables
• Working with other Project Managers, Senior Designers and CAD leaders to provide input to ongoing process improvements for design output and project delivery
• Providing training to junior and intermediate engineers and other technical staff

As a qualified candidate, you meet the following requirements:
• Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
• 10+ years of experience in transportation, road design and capital projects
• Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and municipal design practices and permitting requirements
• Experience with Municipal Class Environmental Assessments
• Experience with design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation Inroads
• Strong oral and written communication skills
