We are seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist to drive quality assurance and testing execution for large-scale enterprise applications. In this role, you will advise on testing strategies, select appropriate QA tools, and organize comprehensive test plans across Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-GUI environments. Working closely with project leads, developers, and business analysts, you will design, build, and execute functional, integration, performance, accessibility, and automated test scripts to ensure software platforms meet strict quality standards and operational requirements.

Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite – 5 days/week required)
Duration: 8-month contract.

Responsibilities
Provide strategic advice on testing strategies, test plans, QA tool selection, and resource allocation.
Plan, organize, and execute full-lifecycle testing efforts for large-scale systems across GUI and non-GUI environments.
Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test scripts, and test data mapped to business specifications.
Execute functional, system integration (SIT), regression, performance, load, stress, and user acceptance (UAT) testing.
Identify, document, track, and manage software defects using defect management tools such as JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
Design, maintain, and execute automated test scripts utilizing tools such as Selenium, Postman, OpenText™ UFT, or TestComplete, integrating suites into CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct backend data validation and database testing using SQL queries to verify data integrity, consistency, and transformation accuracy.
Perform accessibility testing and compliance validation in alignment with AODA and WCAG guidelines.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives while maintaining detailed test coverage reports and quality metrics.
Qualifications
Testing Strategy & Tooling Advisory: Proven experience providing advice on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resource planning (Strictly Required).
Multi-Environment Test Execution: Demonstrated experience planning and organizing testing for large systems across both GUI and non-GUI environments, including SIT, specialized, and UAT stress testing (Strictly Required).
Full SDLC Test Scripting: Hands-on background developing test plans, test scripts, and test cases, executing them across varied components in collaboration with project and IT leads (Strictly Required).
Defect & Automation Tooling: Working experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps) and automated testing frameworks (Selenium, Postman, UFT, or TestComplete).
Performance & Accessibility Testing: Experience executing performance/load test scripts (JMeter or LoadRunner) and conducting AODA accessibility audits.
Database & Scripting Proficiency: Ability to write SQL database queries for backend validation, alongside familiarity with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or Bash).
Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, teamwork, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
Desirable Assets:
Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or SaaS applications (e.g., Oracle Siebel Public Sector).
Hands-on familiarity with web development technologies (HTML, JavaScript, .NET, Java, Web Services).
