détails d'emploi
We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist - Oracle to build and optimize enterprise data integration and reporting capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for extracting data from Oracle and application sources, transforming it using Python and AWS cloud services, and loading it into Amazon Redshift data warehouses. You will design star-schema dimensional models, construct Power BI semantic models and dashboards, and ensure clinical and operational data aligns with healthcare standards such as Ontario HRM, FHIR, and HL7 v2.
...
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite as needed)
Duration: 6-month contract.
Advantages
Modern Cloud Data Stack: Hands-on engineering with AWS Glue Python Shell, AWS DMS, Amazon Redshift, and Power BI.
Hybrid Data Architecture: Combine deep Oracle PL/SQL database expertise with cloud-native dimensional modeling and star-schema designs.
High-Impact Healthcare Analytics: Work directly with enterprise healthcare messaging standards, including FHIR, HL7 v2, and Ontario HRM.
Flexible Onsite Schedule: Enjoy remote flexibility with onsite work in Toronto required only on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
Data Integration & Pipeline Engineering: Develop, test, and maintain AWS Glue Python Shell jobs, Python scripts, and SQL procedures to extract, transform, validate, and load data from Oracle databases into Amazon Redshift.
Database Replication & Change Data Capture: Configure and support AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) tasks, replication instances, and change-data-capture (CDC) workflows to capture incremental data updates.
Dimensional Modeling & Redshift Architecture: Design, build, and optimize Amazon Redshift reporting structures, including staging layers, fact and dimension tables, star schemas, surrogate keys, views, and materialized views.
Power BI & Analytics Development: Build Power BI semantic models, advanced DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and interactive operational dashboards for business metrics and data-quality monitoring.
Healthcare Data Standardization: Map and translate clinical and operational data structures—including Ontario HRM, FHIR, and HL7 v2 standards—into consistent analytical definitions while preserving source-system context.
Data Quality & Reconciliation: Implement full/incremental load patterns, validation rules, reconciliation controls, error handling, automated logging, and data profiling to guarantee dataset accuracy.
Performance Tuning & Technical Documentation: Optimize Oracle queries, Redshift workloads, and Power BI models for speed and scalability, while preparing source-to-target mappings, technical designs, and operational runbooks.
Qualifications
Public Sector Experience: Prior experience delivering business intelligence, analytics, or data engineering solutions within a public sector or enterprise environment (Strictly Required).
Oracle & AWS Data Integration: Senior-level experience with Oracle databases (PL/SQL, complex SQL), Python, AWS Glue Python Shell, and AWS DMS for incremental data extraction, transformation, and production support (Strictly Required).
Amazon Redshift & Dimensional Modeling: Proven experience designing and tuning Amazon Redshift data warehouses, staging layers, star schemas, fact and dimension structures, views, and materialized views (Strictly Required).
Power BI Development: Strong proficiency in Power BI development, including semantic modeling, DAX measures, Power Query, dashboard design, refresh management, and performance tuning (Strictly Required).
Healthcare Data Standards: Practical experience interpreting and mapping healthcare data standards, including the Ontario HRM Standard, FHIR data structures, and HL7 v2 data structures (Strictly Required).
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Hands-on experience with Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs), conformed dimensions, and auditable metric definitions.
Experience configuring Redshift distribution styles, sort keys, and Workload Management (WLM) policies.
Familiarity with Power BI Row-Level Security (RLS), gateway administration, and workspace governance.
