We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Report Developer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. As a principal report developer, you will bridge the gap between complex database systems, data warehouse architectures, and intuitive business analytics. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead the end-to-end development of Power BI solutions, write advanced DAX calculations and T-SQL/PL-SQL queries, build cloud data pipelines, and ensure report compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA). This position is tailored for a seasoned BI specialist who can troubleshoot complex queries, perform data quality validations, and translate business requirements into high-performing analytical products.
Location: Toronto, ON
Assignment Type: Onsite (5 days per week)
Contract Duration: 12-month contract

Responsibilities
Collaborate with project leads and business stakeholders to gather, assess, and evaluate functional and non-functional reporting requirements.
Design, build, test, and deploy interactive reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Paginated Report Builder.
Author and optimize complex SQL queries (T-SQL, PL-SQL), views, and DAX calculations to embed business logic into analytics solutions.
Design data modeling methodologies and build data processing pipelines using ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
Perform technical troubleshooting and query optimization to resolve performance bottlenecks and database issues.
Conduct data quality assessments, data profiling, and report validation to ensure total accuracy across analytical products.
Ensure all reports, dashboards, and data visualizations comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines.
Author technical design specifications, migration documentation, user guides, and perform formal knowledge-transfer sessions.
Qualifications
Core Technical & BI Requirements
Power BI & Paginated Reports: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Paginated Report Builder.
Advanced Querying Skills: Minimum 4 years of experience writing and tuning SQL queries (T-SQL, PL-SQL) across Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle databases.
DAX Development: Minimum 2 years of experience writing complex DAX code, data modeling, and implementing business logic within Power BI environments.
ETL & Data Engineering: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience using ETL tools and cloud data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SSDT, or DataStage) alongside structured data modeling methodologies.
Preferred Analytical & Technical Assets
Troubleshooting & Data Validation: Demonstrated experience analyzing data quality issues, performing report validation, and debugging T-SQL/PL-SQL code.
Database Knowledge: Practical exposure to relational database management systems, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
Communication & Facilitation: Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and consultative communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical team members.
Teamwork & Documentation: Proven experience collaborating in team settings, communicating risks/issues, and preparing comprehensive technical documentation.
