SAP Priority Work and Current-State Architecture
Lead solution architecture for SAP-related initiatives and issues that require immediate attention, with a focus on resolving high-priority technical constraints, integration limitations, supportability concerns, and architectural risks.
Develop and maintain end-to-end Solution Blueprints for SAP-centric solutions, including business process flows, application interactions, integration patterns, data movement, security considerations, and operational implications.
Assess SAP configuration, customization, enhancement, and extension options, ensuring decisions are sustainable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles and platform realities.
Identify and mitigate architectural risks related to SAP platform constraints, technical debt, interfaces, batch processes, data quality, controls, and operational stability.
Provide architectural leadership on SAP-supported business processes and cross-system workflows relevant to enterprise environment, ensuring appropriate fit between business needs and platform capabilities.
Enterprise Systems Integration and Stewardship
Define how business capabilities should be allocated across SAP, CRM, analytics, integration, and domain-specific systems to avoid duplication, fragmentation, or inappropriate use of enterprise platforms.
Establish appropriate system-of-record boundaries, master data ownership, and data flow patterns across SAP and surrounding enterprise systems.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, integration standards, data standards, security controls, and enterprise system guardrails.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Security Architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to manage cross-domain and cross-system impacts.
Support implementation, stabilization, and operational transition activities to maintain architectural integrity across SAP and adjacent enterprise systems.
Define and govern transition-state architectures, including coexistence between legacy, SAP, and future-state platforms, ensuring continuity of operations and data integrity.
Future-State ERP Strategy and RFP Support
Support future-state ERP strategy by documenting current-state constraints, capability gaps, architectural lessons learned, and decision drivers that should inform long-term platform direction.
Contribute to the development of architecture requirements, evaluation criteria, and decision frameworks for a future ERP RFP process.
Provide architectural input into the evaluation of future platform options, including SAP and other enterprise ERP solutions, based on business fit, technical fit, integration complexity, risk, and long-term sustainability.
Help define transition considerations for moving from current-state ERP realities toward a target-state enterprise platform strategy.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
12–18+ years of experience in enterprise IT, enterprise applications, and solution architecture within complex organizational environments.
7–10+ years of experience working with SAP ERP solutions, including ECC and/or S/4HANA.
Proven experience in enterprise-level SAP architecture, including integration architecture, data architecture considerations, and system boundary design across SAP and surrounding enterprise systems.
Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ERP transformation programs in systems-integrator-led environments.
Strong understanding of finance-related ERP business processes, including Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Billing, and Accounts Receivable.
Experience designing ERP integration architectures involving multiple enterprise systems, platforms, interfaces, and data flows such as API-based integration, Event Driven Architecture, and batch design.
Demonstrated experience making and guiding configuration versus customization decisions, as well as defining ERP enhancement and extension strategies.
Experience working in environments with legacy system coexistence, phased transformation approaches, and transition-state architecture planning.
Experience addressing complex technical constraints, integration challenges, architectural risks, and platform decision points in enterprise ERP environments.
Experience working across business and technology teams to shape solution direction, support delivery, and guide long-term platform planning
Experience contributing to future-state planning, vendor evaluation, architecture requirements definition, or RFP-related activities for enterprise platforms is considered an asset.
Relevant architecture, ERP, SAP, or enterprise technology certifications are considered an asset.
