This Lead Operator role is a critical position within the plant, focused on ensuring the rubber production line—specifically the "crump line" responsible for breaking down tire tread into a smaller size—runs efficiently and safely. This is not just a typical operator role; it’s a direct path to developing your leadership skills and technical expertise, with potential for growth into a Production Manager. A comprehensive 2-month training program, including hands-on work with the maintenance team, will ensure you are fully prepared to take on these responsibilities.

Responsibilities
-Coordinate and direct the daily tasks of the production operators to ensure the rubber production line and crump line are running according to the schedule.
- Oversee the continuous production process, monitoring machines, and tracking critical metrics like temperature to ensure smooth operation and prevent overheating
-Act as the first line of defense for machinery issues; perform initial assessment and troubleshooting when a machine is down
-Execute preventative maintenance and adjustments on machines, including granulators (knives replacement and adjustment), small repairs (replacing v-belts and chains), and greasing
-Address simple machine jams, stopping the equipment, cleaning the area, and identifying the cause of the issue for immediate resolution -Perform material handling duties, using a forklift to grab raw materials and collect the finished rubber product, bagging and tagging 2000 lbs bags with correct weight information
-Become a competent first responder for minor machine fixes (e.g., flipping blades, replacing belts, lubricating bearings)
-Ensure any minor fixes not completed during the shift (especially night shift) are clearly documented and prepared for the maintenance team's follow-up the next day
-Foster a leadership environment that emphasizes learning, mutual respect, and adherence to all safety and Manufacturing & Logistics procedures
Qualifications
-Proven experience as a machine operator, ideally within a continuous process manufacturing environment
-Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities to assess and perform minor machine fixes and preventative maintenance
-Leadership qualities with the ability to coordinate, organize, and direct a team of operators on shift
-Experience operating a forklift for material handling (grabbing materials and moving finished product)
-Ability to perform physically demanding work in a cold and dusty industrial environment
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mentor operators and work collaboratively with the maintenance team
-Commitment to safety and adherence to all plant operating procedures and protocols
-Physical ability to work in a plant environment that is noted as being cold and dusty
