Responsibilities
Application Architecture: Design and develop large-scale, complex, and highly available server applications tailored for electronic health environments.
Clinical System Deployment: Lead the implementation and migration of clinical software systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
Technical Leadership: Provide expert advice on short and long-term solution development, including security, recovery procedures, and technical specifications for multi-service systems.
Systems Evaluation: Assess the technical performance and capacity of existing systems to determine the feasibility of renovation, expansion, or replacement.
Requirements Definition: Collaborate with healthcare professionals and clinicians to define and implement health system business requirements.
Compliance & Privacy: Ensure all architectural designs comply with Ontario’s legislative processes, including PHIPA, FIPPA, and HPPA.
Infrastructure Integration: Align application designs with enterprise networking technologies, storage (SAN), and OPS directory/messaging standards.
Qualifications
Core Experience: 6–8 years designing and developing applications within electronic health-related projects, with specific experience in clinical software deployment.
Specialized Tech: 2–3 years of hands-on experience with Redis, Node.js, Handlebars, and OAuth.
Domain Knowledge: 2–3 years of experience working with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) specifically within the Ontario provincial context.
Business Analysis: 3–4 years of experience in health system business requirements definition and implementation.
Infrastructure Expertise: Knowledge of integrated networking, mainframe, midrange servers, and enterprise storage/SAN.
Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with Health Information Custodian (HIC) requirements and related privacy legislation (PHIPA).
Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of stakeholder engagement.
