Responsibilities
As an Accountant Level 3, your corporate tax and compliance duties will include:
Tax Compliance & External Partner Collaboration
•Prepare and assist KPMG with T2 Federal and provincial corporation income tax returns, extracting financial data from SAP to build supporting workpapers.
•Prepare and assist with Canadian statutory financial statements to support balance sheet and income statement schedules included in the tax return.
•Facilitate the preparation of critical international information returns, including T106 (Non-Arm’s Length Transactions with Non-Residents), T1134 (Foreign Affiliates), and NR4 (Non-Resident Tax Withholding, Remitting, and Reporting).
•Conduct Transfer Pricing (TP) analysis, populate TP templates, and assist the TP Manager in responding to queries from PwC.
Internal Tax Reporting
•Prepare the Hard Close tax provision (September) and Year-End tax provision (October).
•Complete Return to Provision (RTP) processing after tax returns are filed.
•Manage quarterly tax payments/refunds templates and handle tax events reporting to Corporate Tax.
Audit Defense & Ledger Maintenance
•Act as the primary point of contact for Canadian Federal and provincial tax authorities regarding income tax audits and reviews, managing responses to all queries.
•Ensure timely remittance of all income tax installments, non-resident tax withheld, and amounts due from assessments to strictly avoid penalties and interest.
•Reconcile all tax-related GL accounts in Oracle and book income tax journal entries in SAP.
Qualifications
•System Expertise: Strong working knowledge of SAP and Oracle is required. You must have a proven ability to extract, analyze, reconcile, and record financial data fluidly within both environments.
•Corporate Tax Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Canadian corporate tax structures, statutory financial statements, and foreign affiliate reporting schedules.
•Communication & Professionalism: Excellent communication skills, with experience professionally managing relationships with external audit firms and corporate stakeholders.
•Schedule Flexibility: Ability to reliably commit to 24 hours per week, with the flexibility to scale up to full-time hours (up to 40 hours/week) during seasonal busy periods.
