As a principal release engineer, you will bridge the gap between software development teams, infrastructure leads, and technology partners. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will serve as a subject matter expert in continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) practices across hybrid cloud environments (Microsoft Azure, on-premises VMware Cloud). This position demands a technical authority who can design YAML-based pipeline configurations, write Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates, streamline software release cadences, and automate enterprise deployment workflows.

Responsibilities
Deliver automated engineering solutions to build, test, release, and deploy complex software applications and cloud infrastructure across environments.
Serve as a subject matter expert in continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines across Azure and on-premises VMware Cloud infrastructure.
Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions and deployment configurations using Terraform, ARM templates, and YAML.
Partner with technology teams, developers, and third-party vendors to support the automated deployment and integration of custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.
Manage source code repositories, branching strategies, and version control workflows using Git.
Execute basic database scripting and configuration management across relational database systems, including MS SQL and Oracle.
Identify and address organizational, architectural, or procedural bottlenecks that limit the adoption of automation pipelines and release best practices.
Collaborate with governance, compliance, operational risk, and audit groups to consult on technology risk items and enforce engineering standards.
Troubleshoot complex deployment failures, pipeline errors, and infrastructure bottlenecks across release lifecycles.
Provide flexible support for scheduled after-hours application deployments, release windows, and pipeline on-call shifts.
Author technical release documentation, pipeline runbooks, and conduct structured knowledge transfer across engineering teams.
Qualifications
Core Technical & Engineering Requirements
CI/CD & Automation Mastery: Advanced, hands-on knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes, pipelines, and deployment tools.
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Proven experience developing and maintaining IaC configurations using Terraform and ARM templates.
YAML & Source Control: Deep familiarity with YAML-based pipeline configurations and extensive experience with Git version control systems.
Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience deploying services to public cloud providers, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure (or AWS/GCP).
Database & Scripting Basics: Practical working knowledge of relational database concepts, basic SQL, and database scripting (MS SQL, Oracle).
Preferred Experience & Assets
Advanced Scripting: Advanced script development experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Operating System Depth: Advanced operating system knowledge across Linux or Windows Server environments.
Monitoring & Observability: Experience utilizing enterprise monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
