Responsibilities
- Supervise and review the work of the accounting team, providing coaching and guidance
- Oversee data collection, regulatory and statutory reporting, and the preparation of complex journal entries
- Perform the first review of outgoing payments and ensure appropriate coding and documentation
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure internal controls and finance processes are documented, implemented, and followed
- Reconcile complex general ledger accounts, including inventory and revenue accounts
- Support the year-end audit process by preparing working papers and facilitating auditor requests
- Assist with the implementation of new tools and processes to streamline the finance department
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a CPA designation (or near completion)
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the manufacturing or distribution industry
- Previous experience supervising or coaching team members
- Proficiency with ERP systems is required; knowledge of Sage X3 is considered an asset
- Advanced Excel skills with an aptitude for learning new software, implementing process improvements, and contributing effectively within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments
