The Automation Controls Specialist is involved in developing and managing new control system application projects, while also supporting operations through troubleshooting, problem-solving, and involvement in special projects related to controls and programming.

Responsibilities
-Plan, design, develop, and implement hardware and software solutions for new machine, automation, and robotic control projects, ensuring product quality, cycle time, and system integrity.
-Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot robot-mounted and fixed vision systems using various methods and tools.
-Create and configure vision applications using locator, command, and process tools; program robots to respond to vision results.
-Develop standards, procedures, and manuals for drive adjustments, CNC modes, calibration, and quality control systems.
-Research and implement advanced sensor technologies and control strategies to improve error proofing and equipment efficiency.
-Maintain and organize control system documentation, including PLC, CNC, HMI programs, electrical drawings, and manuals, ensuring daily updates to server archives.
-Ensure consistent recordkeeping of all program changes and support capital justifications with technical documentation.
-Lead troubleshooting efforts and assist the maintenance team with control system and programming issues.
-Serve as the technical liaison for automation vendors, overseeing programming and equipment build phases to ensure compliance with specifications.
-Support new equipment purchases through design input, reviews, and final sign-off.
-Perform wiring, panel construction, and hardware installations as needed for new or upgraded systems.
-Drive productivity by leading cycle time and OEE improvement initiatives and reducing error-related line rejects.
-Ensure software and revision control compliance with IATF 16949, MAFACT, and IT standards.
-Coordinate with IT on necessary software upgrades to maintain machine uptime.
-Prioritize and manage control-related downtime and safety risks, ensuring systems meet CSA, ESA, and PHSR standards.
-Train maintenance personnel on new control systems and may perform Industrial Electrician or Maintenance Lead duties when required.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Automation & Robotic programming industry
442A or 309A License
Exposure to a wide variety of sensor methodologies.
Data Collection development experience Comprehensive knowledge of electric circuitry consisting of relays, PC, CNC and PLC logic, drives, panel mates, press and weld controls.
Comprehensive Experience with Fanuc Robotics, Fanuc iRVision, AutoCAD,
Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi/Allen Bradley/Omron/Delta Controls, Vision Systems, LVDT and other measuring systems.
Ability to use programming devices for troubleshooting and modification of programs
