Responsibilities
In this Bookkeeper role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Manage the comprehensive bookkeeping cycle, including processing Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), and maintaining the integrity of the organizational General Ledger (G/L).
- Perform daily bank and credit card statement reconciliations and actively assist in preparing working papers and documentation for the monthly and year-end financial close.
- Execute accurate, high-volume semi-monthly payroll runs for ON and QC staff, managing all time, attendance, and data inputs to final calculation and commitment directly within the payroll platform.
- Calculate, remit, and reconcile all federal and provincial source deductions, ensuring strict compliance with Quebec-specific requirements for QPP, QPIP, and HSF, alongside Ontario's EHT.
- Prepare and validate annual regulatory information returns, including employee tax slips (T4s, Relevé 1s) and mandatory remittances for WSIB/CNESST, as required by provincial authorities.
- Maintain all financial records in adherence to Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), providing essential documentation and support for internal controls and external audits.
Qualifications
We are looking for the following for this Bookkeeper role:
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience across all aspects of the function including Canadian payroll.
- A bachelor’s degree in either business administration or accounting is preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems in an accounting/ finance setting is required.
- Prior experience working in a similar industry is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication skills is required.
