Responsibilities
-Financial Management: Accurately record and classify all financial transactions. You'll maintain and reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, and credit cards. This role also involves managing accounts receivable and payable.
-Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and annual financial statements. You will also be responsible for booking sales, cost of goods sold (COGS), and intercompany transactions. You will also be tasked with reviewing general ledger activities for monthly closing.
-Payroll & Taxes: Process employee payroll and prepare all relevant documents, such as payroll slips, T4s, and T5s. This role also involves preparing GST/HST filings and other regulatory reports for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). You will ensure compliance with federal and Ontario tax laws and identify eligible tax deductions and credits.
-Foreign Exchange: Manage foreign currency balances to ensure smooth business operations and explore hedging opportunities.
-Reconciliations: Perform major reconciliations for accounts receivable and payable. This also includes processing monthly bank transactions and preparing bank reconciliations
Qualifications
- A degree in finance or Accounting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems is essential, and experience with QuickBooks is a definite asset
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
