Responsibilities
• Operate handheld power tools, including angle grinders, die grinders, and pneumatic buffers, to finish metal surfaces, smooth welds, and eliminate surface defects.
• Utilize overhead cranes safely to hoist, position, maneuver, and transport heavy materials and metal parts across the production floor.
• Perform thorough surface finishing inspections to verify that completed parts align with company quality standards and technical specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazardous-free work area, adhering to all facility occupational health and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within manufacturing & logistics to maintain smooth workflow, high efficiency, and daily output goals.
• Monitor hand tools and equipment for wear or malfunction, performing routine preventive maintenance and reporting defect issues promptly.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives aimed at boosting safety, ergonomics, and production efficiency across the shop floor.
Qualifications
• Previous, verifiable hands-on experience as a Buffing & Grinding Operator, metal finisher, or in a similar grinding capacity.
• Demonstrated practical experience and knowledge in overhead crane operation within an industrial or plant setting.
• Prior work experience within a fast-paced manufacturing & logistics environment.
• Strong safety-first mindset with proven adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards and safe tool handling practices.
• Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required by production demands.
• Ability to reliably commute to work site location in Guelph, ON.
