Responsibilities
• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
• Assembles customer orders from stock, stage orders and/or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department according to OH or customer pick sheet
• Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using a fork lift, clamp truck, reach, cherry-picker or other power equipment
• Unloads inbound freight safely and moves products to storage locations
• Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded
• Maintains the clean and safe equipment, reporting service requests as needed
• Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety
• Checks orders for exactness and neatness according to ISO 9001 procedures
• Marks materials with identifying information
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
• Assists with physical inventories, cycle counts, ensuring proper stock rotation
• Assists in building cleanup as required
Qualifications
• Minimum 3 months experience and/or training in a warehouse environment
• Experience using 1 to 3 pieces of warehouse equipment
• Must possess experience operating a forklift, ideally a cherry picker or order picker (external/internal certificates are not strictly required)
• Verifiable experience and comfortability with working at heights
• Willingness and capability to perform general labour duties within a warehouse setting
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to learn proper safe operations of warehouse equipment
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift more than 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, as well as stoop, kneel, or crouch for product handling and distribution
• Must be comfortable with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and extreme cold, including climates consistent with outside weather conditions
Skills:
• Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate warehouse machinery, specifically cherry pickers and order pickers
• Strong aptitude for working at heights while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols
• Excellent attention to detail for verifying order exactness and neatness
• Solid organizational skills for sorting and placing materials based on specific sequences
• Capable of compiling worksheets or tickets accurately from customer specifications
• Competence in efficiently moving and loading product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers
• Ability to perform general material handling duties such as picking, packing, and kitting in an efficient manner
