Responsibilities
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Chief Engineer will lead the technical integrity of the facility through the following mandates:
Systems Mastery: Oversee the expert operation and maintenance of high-capacity ammonia refrigeration systems, air compression units, and critical fire/life safety auxiliaries.
Regulatory Leadership: Ensure absolute compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Act, alongside all applicable provincial and federal engineering codes.
Operational Reliability: Execute precision preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all warehouse assets to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Safety & Quality Stewardship: Uphold rigorous adherence to internal standards and global certifications, including OHSA, BRCGS, and HACCP protocols.
Digital Asset Management: Utilize advanced maintenance management software (Guide TI) to maintain meticulous inspection logs and data-driven maintenance records.
Collaborative Technical Support: Partner with multi-disciplinary maintenance teams (building, mobile equipment, and refrigeration) to ensure seamless facility operations.
Critical Response: Act as the technical lead for emergency requests, providing rapid troubleshooting and resolution for plant utility issues.
Qualifications
Professional Qualifications & Certifications
Licensure: Valid Stationary Engineer 'A' – Refrigeration License (Class A) issued by the TSSA is mandatory.
Technical Expertise: Proven experience operating and managing industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
Leadership Track Record: Previous experience serving as a Chief Refrigeration Operator or in a senior technical leadership capacity.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
Strategic Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and sound judgment to troubleshoot complex utility issues and adapt to evolving operational needs.
Precision & Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to high-standard maintenance and regulatory documentation.
Collaborative Leadership: Ability to manage priorities effectively while fostering a culture of teamwork, initiative, and open communication.

Operational Requirements

On-Call Availability: Flexibility to remain on-call to ensure 24/7 operational continuity and emergency response.
