Responsibilities
-Review job file and become familiar with original estimate, plans and specifications.
-Responsible for resources allocation to meet construction schedule and complete projects on time and on budget.
-Update coordinating on scheduling.
-Train, mentor and develop direct reports to build a strong team including utilizing the bi-annual performance review.
-In conjunction with Foreman and the divisional Superintendents, direct the work required to complete the project.
-Ensure that company tools and support equipment are properly requisitioned to job sites, kept in good repair and returned when no longer need on site.
-Attend project closeout meeting to ensure successful completion of projects.
-Document all pertinent project information, including weather, site conditions, employee issues, conversations with inspectors, owner’s representatives and consultant representatives and changes in scope
-Review grade sheets for accuracy.
-Ensure that all materials are ordered with purchase orders or requisitions for materials/supplies from suppliers, parts room, yard and warehouse.
-Coordinate with Project Manager for document inspections on completed work, including prime/owner/consultants’ sign off.
-Review and approve electronic timesheets submitted by Foreman on a daily basis.
-Behaves in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
-Reports incidents, injuries and near misses and participates in the investigative process.
-Assists other employees when required.
-Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
-Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
-Complies with the standards and procedures of North Star’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
-During the winter helping the estimators secure work for the next season
-Create solutions to problems in extremely stressful situations while remaining calm
-Learning and participating in estimating during the winter months
-Creating a conduit of training and moving individuals up in the division
-Communicated with client’s in a timely and professional manner.
-Paperwork completed daily and on time.
-Deal with all employee issues.
-Responsibilities to meet and beat all project cost budgets.
-Overall Responsibilities of specific projects.
-Recognizing and negotiating project extras with clients
Qualifications
-A minimum of 5 years of construction experience, supervisory experience as General Foreman or Superintendent.
-Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules and costing reports.
-Thorough understanding of construction procedure and safety practices.
-Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation and maintenance.
-Valid Class 5 Drivers license required and clean drivers abstract
-Active Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
-Work Site investigation Basics (WIB)
-GPS experience an asset
-Ground Disturbance.
-Valid First Aid.
-Must have accident investigation courses and the ability to discerned root causes of incidents
-Estimating Experience an asset.
-NCSO is considered an asset.
-Taken LSE, Prime Contracting and PHISM.
-Active WHMIS Certification.
-Self-motivating and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
-Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
-Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
-Problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
-Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.
