Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee multiple advanced CNC machines, specifically 4- and 5-axis CNC mills and multi-axis lathes, to perform high-precision machining.
- Manufacture and refurbish critical components for the nuclear industry, such as end fittings and liners, ensuring parts meet stringent regulatory and quality standards, often requiring tolerances less than 0.0005′′.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and operate various CNC equipment, including common systems like Mazak, Puma 600 & 700, Samsung (SMEC), Okuma, Mori Seiki, and Nakamura-Tome.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to precisely set up and verify machined parts, applying expertise in GD&T principles.
- Collaborate with the extensive Quality Team and Engineering staff to conduct program proof-outs, troubleshoot issues, and finalize manufacturing process instructions.
- Execute basic machine preventative maintenance functions, such as checking fluids (coolants and lubricants) and changing filters, to ensure continued optimal performance of the equipment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated professional history of 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, or 3+ years of experience specifically within a highly regulated environment like the aerospace or nuclear sectors.
- Proficiency in operating and setting up advanced 4-axis and 5-axis CNC Mills, Lathes, and Mill-Turn equipment.
- Proven ability to accurately read and interpret complex engineering component drawings with a strong foundational understanding of metrology and GD&T.
- Experience using various lifting devices, including Overhead Cranes and possessing a Forklift License, is considered a valuable asset for this role due to the heavy components handled.
- An educational background in manufacturing or a CNC Machinist Certificate of Qualification is an asset, but practical experience will be the primary evaluation factor.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check is mandatory, which includes a criminal record check, public safety verification, and five years of verifiable employment history.
