Responsibilities
• Perform high-level troubleshooting of CNC machinery, broken tooling, fixtures, and production processes on the shop floor.
• Read and interpret existing CNC programs to make necessary adjustments and modifications using Fanuc controls.
• Read and analyze engineering data structures and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to correct part features based on CMM feedback.
• Set up machines, touch off tools, and run small prototype batches (e.g., 30-part runs) to prove out processes before handing them over to production.
• Fabricate custom, temporary, or permanent fix-it parts using manual lathes and standard machinist bench work.
• Collaborate dynamically within a tight-knit team of 2 to 3 technicians on the midnight shift to balance urgent breakdown repairs with ongoing continuous improvement projects.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to maneuver materials on the production floor as needed.
Qualifications
• Guided by 3+ years of related CNC machining experience, though candidates at the tail end of an apprenticeship program with the right drive will be considered.
• Strong background working with CNC Lathes; please note that candidates with experience exclusively on CNC mills will not be considered.
• Must own and provide basic hand tools (sockets, wrenches, indicators, magnetic nightstands).
• Flexibility to work a permanent midnight shift schedule.
• Must provide standard CSA-approved safety shoes (green triangle) and adhere to mandatory hearing protection policies.
• Possession of a 429A Machinist License is an asset but not mandatory; unlicensed candidates with equivalent experience are highly encouraged to apply.
• Successful completion of standard background checks and employment reference verifications prior to starting.
