Responsibilities
As a Collections Associate, you will be responsible for effectively collecting outstanding balances due from customers and the duties would include:
- Send invoices and statements in response to inquiries and handle customer objections relating to service or charges
- Verify/respond to payment inquiries and identify potential bad debt, accounts at risk, collections and/or write-off
- Contact customers regarding rejected payments and updated credit card expiry dates
- Reconcile cash payments collected by the customer service representatives
- Prepare customers monthly statements for mailing and update database on customer contacts and status
- Communicate with and prepare documentation for collection agency
- Record payments to customer accounts in accounting system
- Utilize word processing and existing spreadsheets for communication and reports preparation
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping or business administration combined with at least 2+ years of experience in B2B collections is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including intermediate MS Excel (charts, pivot tables and v-lookup knowledge)
- Professional and tactful manner in dealing with customers and working with the team
- Certified Credit Professional (CCP) designation is an asset
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work with deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
