As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing, refining, and validating innovative electromechanical products and suspension technologies aimed at significantly improving vehicle performance across defense, heavy equipment, and commercial applications.
In your role as a Control Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical focal point for control systems leadership. Working within engineering & design, you will apply model-based design principles, advance R&D initiatives, and partner with multidisciplinary internal teams as well as external stakeholders. Your core focus as a Control Systems Engineer will encompass navigating legacy control logic, developing sophisticated plant models (hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical), conducting SIL/PIL/HIL testing, and performing on-vehicle commissioning.

Responsibilities
• Navigate legacy control logic and system architectures to drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct thorough literature reviews to evaluate past and present control strategies.
• Develop advanced control models using computer-aided engineering (CAE) techniques.
• Construct detailed hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical plant models to support control model validation.
• Lead and support Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Processor-in-the-Loop (PIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
• Support the development and integration of embedded systems executing control models.
• Draft detailed technical documentation, specifications, and comprehensive test plans.
• Participate actively in design reviews to identify technical risks and recommend mitigation solutions.
• Perform in-house testing as well as hands-on, on-vehicle commissioning.
• Deliver technical diagnostics and troubleshooting support to resolve client issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with project management teams to assist with timelines and resource allocation.
• Travel to customer sites as required for commissioning and support.
Qualifications
• Advanced proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, and Simscape for model-based design.
• Expert knowledge of model-based design methodologies (SIL/PIL/HIL testing and requirements management).
• Strong experience with commercial electronic control units (ECUs) such as TTControl.
• Proficiency with revision control systems including Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Deep understanding of vehicle communication protocols, specifically J1939 CAN.
• Solid working knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262.
• Hands-on familiarity with laboratory testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, debuggers, and data acquisition tools.
• Familiarity with C/C++ and assembly programming languages.
• Practical understanding of microcontrollers, electronic circuits, sensors, electric motors, and hydraulic systems.
• Methodical problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail and strong self-starter initiative.
