Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with manufacturing experience to drive financial results.
- Prepare detailed cost models to determine the feasibility and profitability of new projects and finished goods.
- Analyze and interpret spending, usage, and absorption variances (labor/overhead) to identify the underlying drivers of production costs.
- Build and maintain updated cost databases, manage cost information, and input all new finished goods into the production/costing systems (AS 400 experience is an asset).
- Create detailed reports that present cost-effective solutions for the business. Provide weekly, monthly, and yearly reports based on production metrics.
- Manage physical inventory processes, including sorting, coding, batching, and entering inventory tickets and Work in Process (WIP) lot numbers.
- Assist in preparing departmental budgets and maintain temporary files for the following fiscal year's new standards.
- Investigate and resolve costing/production issues, work with programmers on new system queries, and provide Tariff Classification duty codes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required, coupled with 2 years of general accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or a 2-year college diploma in Accounting or a similar field is preferred.
- Experience with AS 400 and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel proficiency is key).
- 12-week contract (37.5 hours per week).
- Work Location: This is an on-site position.
