We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant with strong manufacturing experience and mandatory SAP expertise to one of our clients in Collingwood, ON. This role will support plant operations and finance leadership through cost analysis, inventory oversight, and standard costing activities.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer cost accounting systems
- Prepare detailed cost analysis including:
- Product costing
- Production variances
- Labour and spending analysis
- Analyze manufacturing KPI variances versus standard
- Assist with development of annual budgets and forecasts (focus on standard costing)
- Support month-end close, including:
- Costing module activities in SAP
- Journal entries
- G/L reconciliations
- Perform inventory reporting and analysis (including slow-moving inventory review)-
- Provide financial support for cost reduction initiatives and system improvement projects
- Interact closely with plant personnel to understand product costs and operational drivers
- Serve as backup for other Canadian accounting staff
- Assist Controller in developing and monitoring internal control procedures (GAAP & SOX awareness)
- Provide administrative support as required
- Support both Collingwood and Whitby plant operations
Qualifications
University Degree or College Diploma in Finance or Accounting
5+ years of professional accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of:
- Cost absorption
- Standard costing
- Inventory accounting
- Mandatory SAP experience
- Experience with ERP / MRP systems
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data mining, analysis)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
