Responsibilities
Direct oversight of regional risk teams and the credit policy function.
Own and evolve the organization’s Residential Mortgage Insurance Underwriting Plan.
Analyze housing market and portfolio trends to inform policy changes and business decisions.
Partner with modeling teams, technology, and third-party vendors to enhance underwriting and risk tools.
Lead business validation and ensure risk alignment on strategic modeling initiatives.
Provide risk leadership on key projects and portfolio insurance assessments.
Champion a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration across teams.
Qualifications
You're a strategic leader with deep expertise in Credit Risk Policy and Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL). You bring an external perspective, a data-driven mindset, and a passion for excellence in mortgage risk operations.
Must-Have Experience:
10+ years in credit risk management, ideally within mortgage lending or a financial institution.
Proven experience with credit policy interpretation, development, and implementation.
Strong understanding of mortgage underwriting, regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSFI B-21, PRMHIA), and risk governance.
Exceptional analytical skills and comfort with data-driven decision-making.
Skilled in leading and motivating cross-functional teams and managing third-party relationships.
Familiarity with tools for collateral assessment, modeling, and risk automation is an asset.
Leadership Skills:
Experienced in leading national teams and influencing at the executive level.
Able to balance strategic oversight with hands-on problem solving.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
