Shift: 12 Hour continental rotating shift schedule
Salary: $42.92/hr with shift premium of $0.55 on afternoons and $0.85 on nights + Benefits + triannual profit-sharing
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair corrugators, die cutters, flexographic printers, folder-gluers, and conveyor systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all repairs and adjustments are performed with a focus on quality and long-term reliability.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical systems, motors, drives, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical equipment in a high-speed industrial environment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
- Work with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and automated systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Assist with electrical installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
- Computer Controls & PLC Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMIs, and other automated control systems.
- Work with sensors, motor drives, and control circuits to ensure proper machine operation.
- Assist in the modification, calibration, and programming of PLCs when needed.
- Utilize computer-based diagnostics and industrial software tools to analyze and resolve equipment failures.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PM & PdM)
- Follow and improve preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to enhance equipment reliability.
- Utilize predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques, including vibration analysis and thermal imaging.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance work, equipment conditions, and recommended actions.
- Commitment to 5S, Lean Manufacturing & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace following 5S methodology.
- Actively support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying and eliminating waste.
- Promote a culture of efficiency, standardization, and continuous process improvement.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed with minimal disruption to production flow.
- Safety & Compliance
- Strictly adhere to LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), and company safety procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, tools, and work areas for hazards.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance machine reliability and efficiency.
- Stay up to date with new maintenance technologies, lean principles, and industry best practices.
- Mentor and support junior mechanics or apprentices in developing their technical skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Ontario Industrial Electrician License 442A or 309A
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and safety practices.
- Experience with PLC programming and control systems is an asset.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
