Responsibilities
Lead large-scale engineering projects and Model Launch Teams from concept to commissioning.
Determine requirements for equipment, processes, and line capacity to meet customer demand.
Optimize cycle times, line balancing, and lean manufacturing tools (TPS style).
Direct the design and modification of equipment for Engineering Changes (ECI).
Write technical specifications, obtain supplier bids, and manage contract negotiations.
Ensure all equipment meets OHSA standards, including securing Pre-Start Health & Safety Reviews (PSRs).
Obtain necessary regulatory permits (Ministry of Environment, ESA, TSSA).
Conduct PFMEAs for system controls and error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) with cross-functional teams.
Provide technical guidance to Maintenance teams during major repairs or equipment overhauls.
Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to produce detailed drawings and installation documents.
Champion environmental sustainability and ensure compliance with the Emergency Preparedness Response Plan (EPRP).
Supervise, direct, and mentor a team of Engineering Specialists and Production Preparation staff.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Welding preferred).
Experience: Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience within the Automotive sector.
Leadership: Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is required; MS Office expertise.
Safety: Current JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and First Aid certification.
Technical Assets: Deep understanding of automated welding, robotics, and stamping presses.
Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime and weekends as project deadlines require.
