Responsibilities
Calculate all required labor, material, and equipment costs based on project drawings and specifications.
Quantify the number of hours necessary to fabricate and machine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) components.
Quantify the number of hours necessary to fabricate custom components.
Quantify the number of hours necessary to fabricate structural and miscellaneous items.
Summarize quantities and prepare detailed spreadsheets for alternate and separate prices required for bid tenders.
Understand and accurately input information into our steel management software, which includes functions for estimating, inventory control, and logistics tracking.
Coordinate, consult, and communicate with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost estimates and any necessary changes or adjustments.
Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, and track actual costs relative to initial bids as the project develops.
Perform any additional duties as directed by the manager.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Post-secondary education and/or related industry/manufacturing/technical experience.
Specialized Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience estimating metal fabricated products.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, and assembly.
Blueprint Proficiency: Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
Analytical Skills: Excellent mathematical and analytical skills necessary for accurate cost calculations.
Time Management: Proven ability to work effectively and maintain accuracy under tight timelines.
Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively both within a team and independently.
Software (Asset): Prior experience using estimating software and AutoCAD is considered a strong asset.
