Responsibilities
-Gather and document technology needs from finance and accounting teams, and develop recommendations.
-Conduct analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and evaluate technology solutions.
-Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope and deliverables.
-Develop and maintain documentation, including requirements, user stories, process maps, and data models.
-Participate in creating and executing test plans and system validation to ensure accuracy and functionality.
-Create and execute SQL queries in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
-Provide training and support to end-users on new system features and processes.
-Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
-Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
-Stay informed on industry advancements and regulatory changes, particularly regarding IFRS17, OSFI, GISA, Facility Association, and GAA.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
-Minimum of five years of experience as a Business Analyst in finance systems, with extensive experience in the insurance industry.
-Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and practices.
-Familiarity with Guidewire principles (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter).
-Knowledge of mainframe constructs and their application in finance systems.
-Proficiency in SQL scripting and expertise in data analysis.
-Hands-on experience with core BA tasks, including writing requirements, creating user stories, and process mapping.
-Proficient in Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to work on-site in the Markham office a minimum of three days per week.
-Willingness and ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet critical deadlines.

-Understanding of ETL transformations and their role in data processing.
-Experience with providing training and support to end-users.
