As a Financial Analyst, you will be the backbone of financial operations for the Registries Evolution branch. You aren’t just "crunching numbers"—you are providing the analytical insights and governance support necessary to modernize vital infrastructure. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will manage budgets, oversee contract lifecycles, and ensure every dollar spent contributes to timely and efficient services for the public. This role is perfect for someone who balances technical financial skill with the ability to collaborate across diverse project teams.
Contract Duration: 5 month
Work Model: In-Office. This role is based at the heart of downtown Edmonton (9888 Jasper Avenue), requiring 5 days per week on-site to foster seamless collaboration with the modernization team.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:15 – 16:30.

Responsibilities
As the Financial Analyst, your day-to-day will be dynamic and impactful:
-Financial Operations: Prepare monthly forecasts, validate vendor invoices, process accruals, and produce detailed budget variance reports.
-Contract Management: Lead procurement activities by creating purchase orders and managing Service Entry Sheets (SES) within the 1GX (SAP Ariba) system.
-Project Auditing: Maintain impeccable documentation for financial workflows and manage responses for internal and external audit inquiries.
-Cost Analysis & Modeling: Build data-driven analytical models to identify financial trends and risks, providing leadership with actionable recommendations.
-Governance Support: Ensure all financial transactions and records strictly adhere to corporate standards and retention policies.
Qualifications
Must Haves (Required):
-Proven experience in financial forecasting, budget tracking, and invoice validation.
-Strong proficiency in 1GX (SAP Ariba) or similar enterprise-level procurement/ERP systems (SES creation and PO management).
-Demonstrated ability to develop complex cost models and perform detailed trend analysis.
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to present data-driven insights to leadership.
-Ability to clear a standard Criminal Record Check.
Nice to Haves (Assets):
-Previous experience working within a public sector or government environment.
-Professional accounting designation (CPA) or progress toward one.
-Experience in project-based auditing or large-scale IT modernization financial support.
