Responsibilities
Operational & Safety Leadership
Maintain Floor Efficiency: Serve as the primary on-floor coordinator, directing team members and ensuring all operational workflows—from inbound unloading to outbound staging—are executed efficiently and without delay.
Task Prioritization: Proactively assign and adjust daily tasks for the team to meet critical deadlines and maintain the optimal flow of freight throughout the shift.
Safety & Compliance Oversight: Ensure the dedicated day team adheres to all company safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times.
Team Organization: Actively contribute to and maintain a clean, highly organized, and safe working environment, setting the standard for the entire team.
Technical Proficiency: Experience or aptitude for quickly learning and operating Warehouse Management System (WMS) or Freight Management Software (specific experience with Freightway is a strong asset)
Hands-On Material Handling (Forklift)
Execute Safe Forklift Operations: Expertly and safely manage a sit-down counterbalance forklift, primarily within the 95% indoor cross-dock environment.
Process Inbound Materials: Efficiently and quickly unload all freight received from inbound sea can containers to minimize dwell time.
Optimize Freight Staging: Accurately stage, organize, and prepare materials on the dock to ensure seamless and error-free outbound shipping processes.
Ensure Load Security and Compliance: Properly load outbound trailers, focusing on strategic weight distribution and load stability to meet all safety and transportation standards.
Qualifications
Demonstrated Cross-Dock Expertise: Experience within a high-volume cross-dock or similar fast-paced logistics environment is an asset.
Leadership Track Record: Proven experience in a Lead Hand, Team Lead, or supervisory capacity, demonstrating the ability to coordinate workflow and direct a team.
Valid Forklift Certification: Must possess a current and valid certification for operating a Sit-Down Counterbalance Forklift.
Criminal Record Check (CRC): Ability to successfully pass a mandatory Criminal Record Check is required for employment.
Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrated ability to quickly assess flow issues, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
